French Press vs. Coffee Maker: The winner is…

Updated: Nov 20, 2022

In the battle of the brews, there can be only one winner. But which coffee maker will reign supreme? The French press or the coffee maker? Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of each to see which one comes out on top.

Brewing with a French Press

Brewing coffee with a French press is a bit more hands-on than using a coffee maker. You have to heat up the water separately and then pour it over the grounds in the press. Then, you have to let it steep for a few minutes before pressing down on the plunger to filter the coffee.

The upside to this is that you have more control over the brewing process. The downside is that it can be a bit more time-consuming, and if you’re not careful, you can end up with grounds in your cup.

Coffee Maker Brewing

Brewing with a coffee maker is much simpler. You just need to add water to the reservoir and grounds to the filter, and then hit the brew button. The machine will take care of the rest, heating up the water and filtering it through the grounds.

The upside to this is that it’s less hands-on than using a French press. The downside is that you have less control over the brewing process, so if you like your coffee a certain way, you might not be able to replicate it using a coffee maker.

The Final Score

So, which one wins in the battle of French press vs. coffee maker? It really depends on what you’re looking for in your cup of joe. If you want more control over the brewing process and are willing to put in a bit more effort, then go for a French press. But if you want something that’s simpler and quicker, then opt for a coffee maker.
